Pharmacy Technician Program

 This is a G3 FastForward Grant Program: These programs are short-term training courses resulting in industry credentials for high-demand professions in our region. If you have been a Virginia resident for at least the past 12 months, you may be able to take this class for 1/3 of the total cost (FastForward price) or at $0 cost if you qualify for G3. Pharmacy Technician Program Pricing:

• Regular/Full Price: $5,799
• FastForward Price: $1,933
• FastForward plus G3 Price: $0

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have a High School Diploma or GED
• Have regular access to computer and internet
• Have transportation to complete clinicals and get to the Laurel Ridge Campus for simulations
• Before registration, students must complete and pass this Math and Reading Proficiency Assessment. The assessment can be taken more than once. The instructor will follow up with the test results.
• After registration, students must complete the required paperwork for their background check, drug screen, and physical with immunizations. If this is not completed before the start of the class, students may be dismissed from the program.

Get started today in an exciting career! The Pharmacy Technician Program is a dynamic and engaging educational experience designed to prepare aspiring pharmacy technicians with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on training necessary for success as a pharmacy technician. This program combines rigorous coursework with practical, real-world applications to prepare students for a rewarding career in pharmacy. This is a 400+ hour hybrid program that will be completed within 18 weeks. The didactic portion of the program is completed online and contains graded quizzes, unit exams, midterm, and a final exam. The simulation portion of the program is observed and graded by local instructors, and you will come to campus weekly for this portion. The experiential portion of the program is completed at designated pharmacy sites with an assigned preceptor. You will need to be prepared to spend 25 hours minimum weekly in this course. The course will conclude with you sitting for the national certification exam.

Included with the tuition: All online components, supplies, and the national certification exam.

Additional costs not included: Background check fee, drug screen, physical, scrubs, and registration with the Board of Pharmacy.

Upon the completion of the class, students will be eligible to take the certification through the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board).
