G3 FastForward Financial Assistance Grant

G3 - Get a Skill, Get a Job, Get Ahead - will pay 100% of the first third (1/3) of select FastForward Programs reducing your cost to $0 if you qualify. Qualification is based on your or your family’s annual adjusted gross income. If the class you wish to take has a G3 FastForward G3 + FastForward logo, look at the maximum family income chart below.
 
If you are planning to take a G3 FastForward class, you are encouraged to look at the INCOME GUIDELINES below to determine if you may qualify to take the class for $0.
  • You must qualify for FastForward to be eligible to receive G3 funding.
  • If you believe you may qualify, you must contact our office. You cannot self-register and receive G3 financial assistance.
  • This grant program has limited funding and students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. You must qualify for FastForward to receive G3 financial assistance. When you complete a Workforce Solutions Financial Assistance Application, we will determine the most appropriate and beneficial financial assistance program for you.
  • If you do not qualify for G3 funding or the G3 funding lapses, we will review other financial assistance options including FANTIC.

What is expected?

Those participating in this program will be expected to attend and participate in all classes regularly, successfully complete the class, and attempt to attain the designated credential or licensure at the end of the program. The Workforce Credential Grant will cover the cost of embedded credential assessments, but the cost of a third-party/off-site assessment (not included in the class cost) will be the applicant’s financial responsibility.

What are the qualifications?

To participate in the program, the applicant shall:
  1. Be a US citizen or eligible noncitizen;
    • For verification, bring a photo ID such as a driver’s license or a state-issued ID card.
  2. Be a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia for a minimum of one year;
    • For verification, bring one of the following with the applicant’s pre-printed name and address:
      Vehicle Registration; Utility Bill; Preprinted Bank Statement, Voter Registration Card, or Housing Contract
  3. Be eighteen years of age if the applicant has completed secondary school or nineteen years old otherwise;
    • For verification, bring one of the following: Driver’s License, State Issued Birth Certificate, State Issued ID, or Passport.
  4. Not be enrolled in an associate or bachelor’s degree program, unless the Workforce program provides training related to the degree program and is necessary to meet a job requirement or advance employment success;
  5. Enroll in a preapproved G3 WSCE FastForward credential program;
  6. Be ineligible* for other forms of tuition funding including employer assistance plans or other tuition assistance programs from WIOA, SNAPET, TANF, DRS, or any other state or federal programs;
    * May be asked to provide documentation of denial for other assistance programs.
  7. Demonstrate financial need based on household income

    Providing proof that the student or the dependent student’s parent(s) has a household adjusted gross income of less than 400% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (see chart below). The Workforce Solutions staff will determine this qualification based on a Tax Transcript* provided. MAXIMUM FAMILY INCOME Qualification: 
    • For verification, you must bring in your IRS Tax Transcript.

      *  The applicant must apply to the IRS to get a Tax Return Transcript that must accompany the application if they solely use the income to determine their financial eligibility. This process can take up to 10 business days, so plan accordingly. Go to IRS website: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

      *  If the transcript mailing time will delay the registration/application process past the starting date of the class, we can temporarily accept a copy of your most recent tax return to begin the process. We must receive the Tax Transcript no later than three business days past the class start date.

How do I apply?

Please complete the Workforce Financial Assistance Application and submit the required documentation as outlined above and on the application. You can stop by Middletown or Fauquier Office during business hours to submit your application and paperwork. While you can also submit electronically, some documents require signatures before the process can move forward.

Applications will be reviewed by the Workforce Solutions staff to determine qualification. You may be required to apply for other funding sources based on your application responses/documentation before being evaluated to receive the Workforce Financial Assistance. Based on your qualifications and grant funding availability, we will review all financial assistance options to determine the most financially advantageous program.
