Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG)

 This is a G3 FastForward Grant Program: These programs are short-term training courses resulting in industry credentials for high-demand professions in our region. If you have been a Virginia resident for at least the past 12 months, you may be able to take this class for 1/3 of the full cost (FastForward Price) or at $0 cost if you qualify for G3. This class will focus on gas tungsten arc welding, commonly known as TIG welding. Students will learn on carbon steel gas tungsten arc welding in flat and horizontal positions. Proper use of welding equipment and machinery, grinding, safe machine set up and adjustment, and general safe practices will be the focus as students are taught welding techniques by industry professionals. Using newly acquired skills, students will attempt an AWS exam. Supplies and testing are included in the tuition for this class.

Proper attire, including closed toe boots or shoes, and long pants, is required. Students must be able to lift 35 lbs and have the physical ability to perform manual work.

Students wishing to take this class must have completed SMAW and Flux with Laurel Ridge Community College prior to enrolling.
